When your civil rights are at stake, you do NOT want to leave yourself in the hands of someone who won’t fight aggressively on your behalf against even the most powerful groups in the state.
At Jacqui Ford Law, we regularly protect our clients from very powerful forces of the state. We promise you that we will aggressively stand with you to protect your civil rights.
Abuse of Power
Our criminal defense practice regularly involves protecting our clients’ rights against the state.
The same groups threatening our clients in criminal defense matters are also often the same groups we are dealing with when protecting our clients’ civil rights. On behalf of our civil rights clients, we file a type of lawsuit against police officers, governmental bodies and public offices to force these groups to comply with the law. These types of civil rights lawsuits are often referred to as “1983 claims.”
People across the country have used 1983 claims to fight against a number of different government wrongs. They have fought against police using excessive force, racial profiling, abuses of power and other actions taken by people who are acting for the government and law enforcement authorities.
Here in Oklahoma, we are often helping clients who have been wronged by the Department of Human Services (DHS). DHS lawsuits often involve DHS abusing its authority by seeking to wrongly interfere with parents’ rights to raise their family as they see fit. We understand these cases and how to successfully represent our clients’ interests. We can do the same for you.
